Our first session started sweet and slow. The great thing about this place is the multi-level balcony with nooks and crannies. Each person can truly find a place of their own, just as we have to find a life and yoga practice–something personal and individualized. With different levels to work with, it’s important to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. This means that some people might need more props than others. It’s about finding what your body and your mind–YOU– need in that moment. Providing students with different levels of the same pose means everyone gets to choose what is right for them that day. Over time, though, I learned about several grant opportunities for innovative technological solutions to social concerns in the world. Yesterday, I attended the Center for Science, Technology and Society’s Global Social Benefit Incubator presentations at Santa Clara University in California and was inspired again to find or create a technology to help others with. Thesis Part 1: Join me on a journey into nature
Namaste. This fall, I invite you to join me as I teach yoga to a very unique set of clients. Statistics show that one in three women will be abused in her lifetime. Once in an abusive situation, it may be hard to leave, hard to access the rest of the world. Domestic violence can be crippling in many ways. How can yoga help women in such situations? Beyond just a place to relax and restore energy, it can be a woman’s connection to nature. Research shows that nature provides us with more than fresh air for our lungs and assistance with vitamin D absorption. It’s more than the physical benefits of nature that humans need.
